Provence Knitting Tour

Arrive at Accommodation in Mormoiron

Welcome afternoon tea with Jeni Hewlett, owner of Fyberspates Yarn Company. Delightful, creative and clever!
 - platters of fruit, coffee and tea, biscuits.

Dinner at a traditional French restaurant, Mazan. 

Sunday
Breakfast on the balcony at home

Marché aux puces et a la brocante - Markets and Antique shops in the gorgeous village of L'Isle sur la Sorgue.
with morning tea in one of the many cafés by the water.

Drive to Les Baux de Provence, a perched hilltop village and listed as one of France's most beautiful villages.
Picnic lunch under the olive trees.
We visit the old quarry where the walls light up - Carrières de Lumières -  with an celebration in lights of Gaugin and Van Gogh inside the quarry. Bring a cardigan or jacket - it's cool...
Explore the village and Chateau of Les Baux and all the medieval demonstrations. Own dinner at one of the many cafés or restaurants.
Optional extra :: Spa treatment at Spa Baumanière.
Return home to Mormoiron in the evening.

Monday
Breakfast on the balcony at home

Knit with Jeni at home - Yippee!!!
Spinning demonstration with Sylvie. Sylvie lives in the next village with her husband and a menagerie of angora rabbits. Sylvie dyes and spins her rabbits' fur and she will show us how and show some of her yarns.
Morning tea at home.

Drive to Monieux for lunch beneath the Plane trees in the village courtyard.

After lunch,  your choice of riding your bicycle through the Gorge de la Nesque, 20km to Ville Sur Auzon. No worries, it's all gently sloping downhill! The views are spectacular...
OR 
perhaps you would prefer to wander through the village of Ville Sur Auzon with your camera, soaking up the beauty of this serene village.

Finish the day with a 3 course French dinner cooked for you at home... Yum! Veau d'Olives, Salad, a yum Dessert and a Cheese platter.
More time for knitting!!!

Tuesday
Breakfast on the balcony at home.
After breakfast we drive to Vaison la Romaine, a hilltop Medieval village with much historical importance. 
It's market day today in Vaison! Enjoy the colour and bustle of this delightful market.
As well, we will visit Madam Tardy's Yarn shop. This quaint and petite shop is filled to the rim with the yummiest yarns...

We all buy something from the markets for our picnic lunch by the River Ouveze.
After lunch, we wander to the top of the Medieval village, or if you prefer, a visit the Roman ruins in the centre of town. 

Our return home takes us via the summit of Mt Ventoux, with a delicious afternoon tea in a café on the mountain. Take in the vista whilst sipping on a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Enjoy the views from the top of this 'Giant of Provence'.

We drive to a Chateau winery where the viticulturist will tell us about the growing of the grapes and the making of their wines. Of course, we get to taste the wines, as well as their own olive oil!

Dinner at  the base of Mt Ventoux, in the cycling-mad village of Bedoin.
Home for a good bit of knitting!

Wednesday
Breakfast on the balcony at home.

We begin our day at the colourful village of Roussillon. Enjoy at leisure your own morning tea and a walk through this ocre coloured village.

When we meet up again, we'll spread out on our picnic blankets and chairs. Out come the knitting baskets! Yarn and colour galore. Aaahhh, this is the life. We'll picnic on a tasty lunch whilst working on our projects.

Late in the afternoon and a short drive to Gordes, where we'll have some afternoon tea. Photo-Op of the largest hilltop village in Provençe. 

Our return home sees us pass a silent monestry, Abbey de Senanque. Wonder in silence around the grounds and lavender fields of this still tended to monestry, by monks today.

Pernes les Fontaines is a village with 40 fountains and a delicious winery/restaurant. The chef creates just one meal a day - one meal with only the freshest and most in season produce from the markets, matched with their own wines. What do you have for us today, Mr Marrec? After our busy day, we are starving!

Thursday
Breakfast on the balcony at home

A late start as we're wanting to get some more rows done!

We depart for Pont du Gard at noon, where we share a picnic lunch by the River Gardon. The Pont du Gard was built by the Romans in the 1st Century AD. The museum is beautifully set out and easy to enjoy.

We take you to the old city of Avignon for a spot of shopping.
Are you looking for the LYS, shoes, clothes, homewares or decorators shops? Or perhaps something funky for someone who already has everything?
You will find it all within the confines of the old fortress walls in Avignon. Use our list of shops and ateliers as a guide, or discover your own treasure cove.
Avignon lets you loose yourself among cobbled stone streets and its inviting character.

Afternoon tea at any of the cafés at your own leisure.

We take off in the very early evening and drop in to see our good friends at Mario's restaurant. Mario and his family are originally Sicilian and cook up the freshest Mediterranean food. Frogs' legs, Steak Tartare or pizza Sicilian style, Mario has it on the menu for us.

Arrive home in time for some knitting and yarning in the lounge room. Aaaahhhhhh, nice! Cup of tea, anyone?

Friday
Breakfast on the balcony at home. 

Today is our last day with Provence Temptations...
We want you to meet our French friends and enjoy a true French lunch, in the garden of a Provençal Mas or farmhouse. Enjoy simple fare in the way only the French know how to bring a lunch to life. Pascal and Christine will entertain you for a lunch experience you will never forget. 

A quick stop via the markets of Carpentras, for those last minute Provençal bits and pieces you wish to take home, as well as to pick up a small bunch of flowers for our lunch time hosts.

An early arrival back to the house. Dinner at the accommodation.
It's time to pack, but not before a final bit of knitting!

We exchange email addresses and say goodbye to our newly made friends. We will see each other on Ravelry and of course and we hope to see you all again in France for more gorgeous knitting.
